A few weeks ago I saw the lovely looking furniture restored by www.facebook.com/paintedprettybysuzy and thought I’d buy a toy box with my daughters birthday money.
The toy box does not seem to be on their page at this time.
I commented on their post and expressed my interest. To which I received a lovely private message from Suzy Newsome who seems to be the owner.
What a quick and speedy reply by Suzy Newsome. I was impressed.
After a few more short messages we agreed £75 and I paid the full amount directly into their bank account.
Terms agreed and payment made within 24 hours to Suzy Newsome
NOTE: Suzy Newsome never mentioned anything about it taking 8 weeks to complete my order, or any other time scale.
I sat back, had a cup of tea and slice of yummy cake then waited for my beautiful daughters new toy box to be completed.
11 lovely days had passed and I’d not heard anything else from them. Not to worry though, I’ll message them and ask how it’s going:
I received another lovely reply from Painted Pretty. I was happy to wait a little longer as it seemed they had more important things to do rather than worry about their customers order. After all, what was the rush; she’d already got all of my money.
Again I didn’t hear anything else, so another 11 days later, on the 18th April, I messaged them again:
This time we managed to get a completion time from them. Fantastic, I thought!
So, on Monday the 18th April I was told that it will be finished by the end of the week. That would be Sunday the 24th, correct?
Awesome, I was rather excited that after a 28 day wait we would receive our lovely Painted Pretty toy box.
I again sat back, made a nice cup of Yorkshire Tea and cut myself a slice of yummy chocolate cake, and waited to hear back from Painted Pretty.
Sunday the 24th April arrived and went and I still didn’t hear anything from them.
More tea. More cake. More inches on my bloody waistline…
In fact another 8 days went by and I’d still not heard anything from Painted Pretty.
I contacted them once more and politely asked for a refund:
I received their reply. It wasn’t so much as ‘Painted Pretty’ this time, but more ‘Painted not so Pretty’. Now I had asked for my money back all of their warmth and friendliness had gone.
Painted Pretty then told me there is an 8 week wait because she’s now decided she wanted to refurbish her new shop before she gets around to completing my order. She’s already received the full payment from me, so who can blame her?
Yep, all of those weeks ago I said there was no rush. But it’s still reasonable that I expect my toy box within a reasonable about of time, and that they complete it by the deadline that they had given me around 2 weeks earlier.
But of course she never said any of that did she? She never told me on the 18th April that it would be completed by the 24th April… did she? According to her she didn’t:

It seems like she gets confused a lot! She even claimed that she told me it would be 8 weeks when I placed the order. But she never mentioned anything like that.
Painted Pretty – A business I personally wouldn’t want to deal with again.
I decided to share my experience by leaving a review on their Facebook page:
Yes, that’s right they blocked me on Facebook so I could no longer message them, or reply to the lies that they wrote in comment to my honest review.
- Again they are really confused, this seems like the norm for Suzy Newsome
- They publicly lied claiming they told me it would be 8 weeks
- They said they would refund my money IMMEDIATELY. I’ve still not received a refund.
- They claim they are sorry. If you are sorry, Suzy Newsome, then why not change what you have written and admit that you didn’t mention anything to me about 8 weeks?
But it gets worse:
- Another lie – they have blocked me (see below)
- I wrote/edited the review before Suzy Newsome blocked me on their Facebook fanpage and after she blocked me on the Facebook messenger for Painted Pretty.
- I didn’t respond with my bank details because you blocked me on Facebook messenger Suzy Newsome.
- Yes she gave me a contact number, which I texted and never received a reply.
- Isn’t the accusation of theft true? Suzy Newsome has my money and it seems that she have no intention of returning it due to the fact she blocked me and not replied to my text, nor has she refunded the money. I might be wrong, but it seems that Suzy Newsome has stolen my money.
- I gave Painted Pretty reasonable time. I didn’t ask for my money back until 8 days after the completion deadline that Suzy Newsome gave me. I’m not sure why that is seen as being unreasonable by Painted Pretty
So, did they block me on Facebook Messenger and their Facebook fanpage? You can make your own mind up after seeing the below:

Update: She’s now messaged me from her personal facebook account and received my bank details to provide my long wanted refund.
As it been refunded? No, yet more silly excuses to why they can’t refund my daughters £75.
